Grand Canyon

List hotels nearby

The Grand Canyon is the most famous natural attraction in the United States and possibly in the world. The first sight of the canyon will never fail to impress visitors.

At any viewpoint along the South Rim you can get a true appreciation of the canyon's enormous size. There are many overlooks and hiking trails, but a hike down into the depth of the canyon is the greatest adventure. The North Rim of the canyon is much more remote and not accessible in the winter months because of the snow. The views are just as magnificent from either side of the canyon.

Petrified Forest List hotels nearby
The Petrified Forest, less than an hours' drive Southeast of Holbrook, features stone log fragments scattered over a rather remote section of the Arizona desert. These petrified logs are extremely beautiful as they display unexpectedly bright colors.
Painted Desert
The Painted Desert, located just Northeast of Holbrook, is well worth a visit. The late afternoon sunlight mixed with the dark skies produce an unusual lighting that is responsible for the unique view of the desert landscape.
Meteor Crater
Over 50,000 years ago, a huge iron-nickel meteorite, came crashing out of the sky at about 40,000 miles per hour, striking the rocky plain of Northern Arizona. It landed with an explosive force greater than 20 million tons of TNT.
Montezuma's Castle
Montezuma Castle is one of the oldest, best preserved ancient cliff dwellings found in the Southwest. It is a spectacular 5-story structure built into the side of a white stone cliff about 70 feet above the ground.
Oak Creek Canyon / Slide Rock
One of Oak Creek Canyon's most colorful and popular attractions is found at Slide Rock State Park. Every summer thousands of visitors find relief from the heat in the cool waters of Slide Rock. This is a natural water slide amidst the beautiful red rocks that form the bottom and the walls of the canyon.
Lake Powell
The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area stretches from Lees Ferry in Arizona to the Orange Cliffs of southern Utah. A variety of tours are available to help you experience the Lake Powell area to the fullest. You will find a variety of boat tours, rafting adventures, and opportunity to join a fishing tournament.
Canyon de Chelly
Much of the northeast corner of Arizona is barren and not particularly scenic with the exception of Canyon de Chelly National Monument. Located on the Navajo Indian Reservation in the Northeast corner of the state, this canyon displays sheer walls rising up to 1000 feet with many scenic overlooks, several well-preserved Indian ruins and an insight into the present day life of the Navajo Indians who still inhabit the area.
Arizona SnowBowl
In the San Francisco Peaks north of Flagstaff is Snowbowl, a popular winter destination that affords visitors the opportunity to enjoy snow skiing and snow boarding. When there is no snow on the ground, there are plenty of hiking and biking trails. Visit Snowbowl for a breath of fresh mountain air.
