The Heard Museum

The museum was built in 1929 by Maie Bartlett Heard and Dwight B. to house their collection of mostly Native American artifacts and fine art. This is one of the best places to learn about the cultures and the art of the Native Americans. Over a 1/4 of a million people visit the Heard Museum each year. - Phoenix 602-251-0275

Casa Grande Ruins National Monument
Dating back to 1350 you can view prehistoric sites that were first seen by European explorers in the 17th century. The Casa Grande(big house) built in 1350 still stands almost to its original size. It has a modern roof to protect it from the sun and wind. You will need about an 1.5 hours to inspect the site or longer if park rangers are giving a tour. - Casa Grande 602-723-3172
Out of Africa
Fun for the whole family. It started out as a research project to determine the psychological needs of big cats. Now the park is open to the public. Superstition Mountains
Rising nearly 3,000 feet above the desert floor, tis giant monolith, part of the 160,000 acre Superstition Wilderness Area, was named for the many legends surrounding it.
Lost Dutchman State Park
Though the mine was never rediscovered, adventurers are still drawn to the area seeking the lost gold. Nearby is Canyon Lake, one of Phoenix's most popular desert lakes.
